AUSSIE TO HEAD NEW CHINESE LMP3 SERIES

Asia’s newest prototype series, the FRD LMP3 series, has appointed Australian Shane Rogers as Series Manager effective immediately.

Rogers will combine the role with his Series Manager role in the Formula Racing Development’s (FRD) promoted Asian Formula Renault (AFR) Series.

“I had the opportunity to see the Ligier JS P3 car for the first time in the flesh at Aaron Kwok’s FS Racing launch in Zhuhai. It’s a beautiful car. If it goes half as well as it looks, it’ll be fantastic series,” Rogers said.

Rogers continued: “The ACO have developed a great platform with the LMP3 regulations. It’s hard to develop a formula that’ll work in all markets world wide, but with LMP3 it appears they’ve found the right combination. FRD LMP3 is poised to become a major part of the landscape in the region.”

“I’m looking forward to work with Kenneth Ma and all the FRD team, and can’t wait for the series to start.”

Founder and CEO of FRD Kenneth Ma: “One of our aims is to bring a higher standard of international racing to China, and this is just another puzzle piece in the process. Shane’s work in the AFR Series is helping FRD lift the standard there, so it was logical to add him to the FRD LMP3 series team.”

The FRD LMP3 Series will debut in 2016, an international series, racing in China. Leading teams in the region, including KCMG, Eurasia, S&D Motorsports, and Craft-Bamboo are confirmed for the series, as well as entries from Aaron Kwok’s FS Sports and Jimmy Lin’s PTRS Team.

Winning drivers will get an opportunity to participate in the LMP2 category in the Asian Le Mans series, with a chance of winning an entry to the famous Le Mans 24 Hour race.
