THE 100TH INDIANAPOLIS 500

A WISE man once said “If an opportunity exists, take it” and that’s exactly what two of The Race Torque’s finest did at this time in 2016.

WORDS & IMAGES: Tony Schibeci

The opportunity was the 100th running of the Indy 500, which was given more significance due to the fact local motorsport identity Brett ‘Crusher’ Murray had entered a car into the race to be driven by the grandson of Australian racing royalty, Matt Brabham.

Our two intrepid reporters, Richard Craill and Tony Schibeci, caught up with fellow commentator Matt Naulty, and did the full tourist motor racing fan thing.

From the Indy Museum (ED- more on that later), to the memorial day parade, to broadcasting ‘On The Grid’ live from the Colt’s Bar and Grill, to a 3am start on race morning.

It was the trip of a lifetime and this is what it looked like through the camera lens of ‘The Schibecsta’ from Carb day to race day on the 29th of May 2016.
