Major Setback for New Bathurst Track
Bathurst Regional Council has received notification that Federal Government funding of $12.5 million for the development of a second circuit at Mount Panorama has been withdrawn. The two grants of $10 million and $2.5 million included requirements for constructing a facility and the money spent by June 2026. Mayor Robert Taylor said Council had sought to re-purpose the funds for the growth and development of current facilities at Mount Panorama. “Unfortunately, we were advised this didn’t align with the intent of the original grant funding,” he said. “The project is on hold for now, but Council strongly supports development of

Continue readingRANKED: Darwin Liveries
For the second running of the Supercars Indigenous Round concept, it's fair to say that the bar has been raised. This weekend when the teams hit the track at Hidden Valley Raceway, there will be some eye-catching liveries on show - and we have tried our best to rank them in order of our favourites - it's a bloody tough ask... Hit us up on the socials @theracetorque - we'd love to know your thoughts! One thing that has become apparent in 2023 is that various teams have genuinely embraced the Indigenous Round concept, and have added some depth to

The long wait is finally over – the Brisbane Motor Museum opens at 10am on Friday, and it is set to be an instant hit. We initially uncovered the project on these pages back in January, with the team subsequently putting a massive effort into perfecting the venue and curating a cracking initial lineup of vehicles. In a nod to art gallery-styled rotating displays, the Brisbane Motor Museum will regularly feature new showcases, ensuring the venue will be a continual focal point for enthusiasts into the future. The dynamic display cycle is slated to cover various topics dedicated to specific

The Blanchard Racing Team (BRT) has uncovered a striking Supercars Indigenous Round livery for the CoolDrive Racing Ford Mustang, with the “Three Generations” artwork denoting three generations of the Blanchard family. Once again designed by acclaimed Djerait artist Melissa Yaram Tipo, the three saltwater crocodiles together represent the three generations of Blanchard, who have passed knowledge down with each successive generation. Similar to BRT’s 2022 livery, the utilisation of the crocodile represents strength, power and masculinity. The painting is also a celebration of this year’s NAIDOC Theme, ‘For Our Elders’, with the dots around the crocodile motifs representing the generations

THE WORKHORSE Radical Cup Australia will field a 20-strong grid at the opening round of the 2023 season this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park. Joining the Shannons Trophy Series round at the Sydney circuit, the grid is the largest and arguably the most competitive yet assembled for the category as it enters its second season under the current format. Despite the late start to the season, the field includes a broad mixture of returning names, experienced Radical veterans and young guns looking to progress their careers. “It has been the hardest calendar to piece together, but the reward is such
Continue readingBucket List Stuff: Darwin Supercars
There are a lot of great events you should get to before you kick the bucket, and in this part of the world, I reckon that the Darwin Supercars should top your list. You see, of the 12 events that feature on this year’s Supercars schedule, there is a high level of sameness. No matter the venue, the template is copied, pasted, and repeated. But Mark, surely some other events would be chart toppers? What about Bathurst? The 1000 is clearly top-tier, but go to the 12 Hour instead to get an awesome Mount Panorama experience. The Melbourne Grand Prix

The Nation's Action Track did not disappoint. Here we unpack the Hot, the Not and quite a lot of What from a big weekend in the wilds of Winton for the latest round of the Shannons SpeedSeries. ABOUT THE RANKINGS: The TRT Power Rankings are compiled by your nominations from social media and edited by the TRT editorial team. They’re designed to give a balanced, as fair as possible critical overview of those things that excelled and those things that struggled, at each event. It’s (mostly) a democracy, and what you nominate generates the order, so have your say next event
