BATHURST 1000: Trucks at the Track

Let's face the fact: the transporters that carry the cars to the circuit are just as big an attraction as their high-speed cargo. With ten categories on circuit this weekend, the best of the best from all corners of the country have come out to play this week at Mount Panorama. We did a lap of the pits yesterday to scope out the range of show ponies on display.

BATHURST 1000: Day 1 Monday Notebook

Welcome to the very first installment of our Bathurst Notebook - where we combine all of the random things we come across on the ground this week at Mount Panorama. As you will discover, it's not necessarily hard and fast news, there's a little mix of everything that takes our fancy. Our plan of attack is to turn one of these around daily through Saturday, and follow up Sunday's main event with the full Doric Power Rankings treatment you have come to love. And like everything we do here at The Race Torque, we are always on the lookout for

PODCAST: We walked Bathurst and didn’t have a heart attack

ON THE GRID is quite literally On the Grid this week, in a pre-Bathurst 1000 special episode to help set the scene for the Great Race. Craill & Walker battle the elements, a massive lack of fitness and the steepest hill in motorsport to document the most incredible 6.213km around in an audio tour of some bits you knew, and some stuff you hopefully didn't. We meet the locals - literally someone who lives at the Cutting - run into someone who's been camping on the big hill for more than 40 years and, by absolute chance, catch up with

BATHURST 1000: First Look Track Walk

What an amazing race track. All is ready for the biggest weekend of motorsport Mount Panorama has ever seen. The Race Torque this morning went on a 9.1km journey around the 6.2km ribbon of blacktop, to document some of the finer details you just don't see on TV. The residences, the walls, the elevation changes, the new signage, and so much more. For instance, Chaz Mostert's infamous skid marks from 2015. What's more, we recorded a very special episode of our On The Grid Podcast, where we break down the features of the circuit pictured in this feature, plus chat

Bathurst’s other astonishing motorsport museum

AS WELL as being well-known for it's car racing heritage, the country New South Wales town of Bathurst is well-known for it's wide array of excellent museums. Of course, there's the excellent National Motor Racing Museum, located at Murray's Corner as you enter the circuit. There's the national fossil museum - where you can see a life-sized T-Rex skeleton up close - and Chifley House, where the Prime Minster Ben Chifley, who served in the late 1940s and launched the first Holden to the world, once lived. There's also the newly-launched Bathurst Railway museum, which opened just prior to the

BATHURST 1000: Be an Armchair Expert Strategist

So, you want to win the Bathurst 1000? Here we take a deep dive into the aspects to keep an eye on during this year’s Great Race. There are a lot of factors to come into play – obviously, car pace is king – slow teams don’t win Bathurst. You want to have a fast, safe co-driver, and you want them in the car at the right times, only just covering their minimum driving times. As always, expect the co-drivers to knock over as many laps as possible in the opening half of the race. However, there are many constraints
