Something(s) to Look Forward to in Victoria

Motorsport has taken a backseat during the pandemic years of 2020 & ’21, with Victoria on the receiving end of the worst of it.

However, it appears that following the cancellation of the November Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event at Sandown, there will still be some decent local events to round out the year.

Historic Sandown is scheduled for November 5th to 7th, with the spectator-less event requiring all competitors and officials that attend to be double-vaxxed.

A week later, Winton will come alive with the David Lowe Memorial Excel Enduro Cup event, with the annual HQ Enduro event scheduled for November 26-27, and the Winton 300 down for November 10-12.

Meanwhile, down at Phillip Island, Island Magic is set for November 27-28, with big fields assured.

Obviously, the spectator allowances and conditions for each of these are dependent on the circuit, its location, and the prevailing government directives.

Another event worth pencilling in is the Phillip Island Classic, which is scheduled for March 11th to 13th, 2022, which unlike previous years, will not be a lead-in event for the Australian Grand Prix, which is scheduled for April 7th to 10th.

While the 2021 event ran against significant border hurdles and a minimal crowd in attendance, hopes are that future editions will be able to host more of the brilliant machines the meeting has become famous for.

This throwback Thursday, we send it back to the 2016 running of the Phillip Island Classic, where there was an incredible display of metal on show.
