JCRE Returns to national competition at Sandown

JOHNSTON CRAILL Racing will return to competition this weekend.
Following a lengthy break from racing to develop an in-house engine program, young-gun Jack Boyd will return to the circuit this weekend driving the team’s #38 Ford Mustang in Round 4 of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series at Sandown.
The team returns to the track with the ongoing support of Inverell Ford, and a collection of new supporters from the country NSW town.
These include Sapphire City Tyres, Gillespie Plumbing and the Tatts Hotel Inverell.
JCRE supporters Graphic Art Mart and Fursty Ferret Amber Ale also appear on the re-livered #38 machine.
Boyd – along with Kim Anderson’s AA Racing with JCRE entry – will compete this new round with new powerplants developed in house by Jack’s own ‘Stonkin’ Donks’ engine workshop.
The new powerplants have been tested recently at The Bend Motorsport Park, readying them for competition at a circuit known as ‘the home of horsepower’.
Anderson’s striking blue livery now also features support from Inverell Ford.
The team is excited to be back on track, having last competed at a national level in round two of the championship at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania in May.
Asher Johnston claimed the SA State series round at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in the interim, while the team has tested several times to develop the new engine package before committing to the Sandown comeback this weekend.
The Battery World Aussie Racing Cars series will race four times this weekend at the Shannons SpeedSeries event at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne’s South Eastern suburbs.
Following practice and qualifying on Friday, the field will compete twice each on Saturday and Sunday.
While all four races will be streamed live and free on 7plus, Race 2 (2:35pm Saturday) will also be shown live and free on 7mate.

#38 FORD MUSTANG
“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel and do some racing. It has been a long couple of months since we got back from Tassie, so I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
“I last raced at Sandown a few years ago in the Aussie car and enjoyed the track and its challenges – even though we didn’t go that well. Feel like I’ve learnt a lot since then so let’s see where we land.
“It’s been a long couple of months at Stonkin’ Donks HQ trying to find the right engine recipe moving forward. We’ve blown stuff up and learnt a lot: I’m confident we’ve got a pretty good package now and I am excited to see how we stack up in the engine department.
“It was difficult to sit on the sidelines for Perth, especially being so high in the championship. However it’s exciting to be back, and we’ve got some great support from our friends in Inverell – so I’m looking forward to having a good crack at it.”

“It’s great to be back on track with Jack so he can strut his stuff hopefully as he did so well in the first two rounds of the championship this year.
“At this stage Asher and I are tipping everything we have into ensuring Jacko and his car can be as competitive as possible; Asher will have to remain a frustrated race car driver on the sidelines for the time being.
“Jack showcased his ability in the opening two rounds and sat third in the championship which made people sit up and notice. We want to pick up where we left off so he can showcase his ability – we’re believers in his talent and want people to see it.
“Jack and his dad, Glenn, have worked super hard to establish ‘Stonkin’ Donks’ (the best name for an engine company ever, by the way) and build engines that should be capable of playing with the leaders in the competitive field. Certainly, at Sandown you’ll get found out quickly if you don’t have the grunt! It should be great racing.
“We said we would be back in Battery World Aussie Racing Cars when we knew we could compete, so here we are.
“Our sponsor group have been fantastic in this time and our friends in Inverell have really come to the party to help, thanks to Ben at Inverell Ford. We’re proud to represent the town and so many local, country businesses in that region. Jack will do a good job representing them this weekend.”
