Andersen, AA Racing link with Johnston Craill for expanded team

SOUTH AUSSIE racer Kim Andersen and his AA Racing team will join the Battery World Aussie Racing Car series at Symmons Plains Raceway this week.

Andersen, fresh from a recent campaign at the Bathurst 6 hour where his AA Racing squad fielded two entries, has purchased a Ford Mustang-bodied Aussie Racing Car and will link with Johnston Craill Racing for his maiden season.

To be branded ‘AA Racing with JCRE’, Andersen’s car sports the same JCRE livery as his news teammates though in a vivid blue and black colours befitting his major branding and key supporters.

Andersen’s own business, Air Everywhere, has already been a supporter of JCRE, appearing on the bonnet of the car on the streets of Surfers Paradise last October.

AA Racing is named in tribute to Kim’s father and in just two years has already built a successful track record with the step to Aussie Racing cars it’s biggest step up yet.

A relative newcomer to the sport, Andersen only started racing in Hyundai Excels in 2023, finishing third overall in the ultra-competitive Masters Series in the SA State Championship in 2024.

Andersen also contested the Bathurst 6 Hour for the first time last year, repeating that effort in 2025 driving a BMW M135i.

His shift to the Battery World Aussie Racing Car series comes following his relationship with Johnston – who’s Check it Out Graphics business has provided signwriting and support to AA Racing since it’s inception.

“I started this year with one Excel round to scratch the itch and came third and then tackled the six hour – but earlier on Asher came up with the bright idea for me to race Aussie Cars so here I am!” Andersen said.

“It’s exciting to be part of it and to make my debut this weekend at Symmons Plains Raceway. It’s always an exciting track and makes for great racing, and it feels like a good place to make my debut.

“There’s not a real plan as far as expectations go: I’ll just drive the car and hope to keep up with Asher and Jacko!”

Andersen’s car will be backed by long-time supporters, Panasonic Air Conditioning, Atta Boy, Air Everywhere, AE Electrical, Evolution Crash and Clubhaus Media.

Johnston Craill heads to Symmons Plains in a strong position following a recent test at Mallala Motorsport Park – a circuit not dissimilar in nature to the short and sharp Tassie circuit just outside of Launceston.

JCRE will again field its pair of cars for Asher Johnston and Jack Boyd, who heads to the Apple Isle sitting third in the championship following a maiden podium finish in the opening round at Sydney Motorsport Park two months ago.
