Brad Jones Racing and CARMA nurturing aspiring talent

Brad Jones Racing and Simon Wills’ CARMA join forces to help inspire and nurture exciting up and coming talent.

Over the last three years CARMA (Coaching And Race Management Assistance),  has become an increasingly valuable tool for aspiring local South Australian drivers who receive guidance from ex-Supercars driver Simon Wills.

Wills was twice crowned the Australian Drivers Champion and the New Zealand Gold Star Champion and is now helping to coach the next wave of drivers coming through the system with CARMA.

In 2007, Wills drove for BJR in the V8 Supercars Championship and the relationship with the team has remained strong since.

When looking to grow the CARMA coaching program, Wills could think of no better environment than that at BJR.

Selected CARMA drivers and students will join the BJR team at one of the upcoming SA Supercars rounds to get hands-on experience in a working garage in the top line of motorsport in Australia.

The invaluable experience that the CARMA students will receive being immersed in the BJR garage will be an exciting addition to the program.

BJR has a proud history of nurturing aspiring talent in the industry and this partnership with CARMA aligns with the team perfectly in that respect.

The squad is excited to welcome the CARMA students at one of the upcoming SA rounds and looks forward to helping them develop their careers.

“When Simon approached me with the idea for the partnership I was more than happy to help out,” Said team owner, Brad Jones.

“The CARMA program is important to have in the industry and what he’s doing is fantastic to help bring new talent through the ranks of motorsport.

“I’m excited for BJR to be able to contribute to that and partner with CARMA.”

Said Wills: “Since I finished up full time racing, which was with BJR in 2007, I have always been keen in helping out younger drivers learn the complete aspects needed to become a full time racing driver.

“I know when I was young and starting out, I would of loved to have had the direction from someone like myself. I could have done with the advice during my career and in turn made many mistakes, so now I find it very rewarding to be able to help others learn from the benefit of my own hindsight.

“From starting CARMA (Coaching And Race Management Assistance), I am now striving to continually improve on CARMA’s systems and coaching. Now combining with BJR greatly improves CARMA’s efforts into the future.

“I loved my time with BJR. The environment and the competitive spirit within the team was fantastic then, and to now be able to share that with new aspiring talent is something I am most grateful for.”
