Bathurst 1000: 2010 Throwback

Let’s kick off our 2023 Great Race content-athon with a walk down memory lane, by throwing it back to the 2010 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

The weekend started out in inauspicious circumstances for these two Commodores, with Jason Richards finding the fence at Forrest Elbow before later being cleaned up by Jamie Whincup. While this was happening, Craig Lowndes was scorching around the circuit in a time of 2:06.8012sec, to finally break Greg Murphy’s unofficial lap record, which was set back in 2003.

Contact! This was the moment that kicked off the series of events that saw Fabian Coulthard take his tumble through The Chase…

Evidence can be seen in the background as the backmarkers made their way down to Murray’s Corner to complete their first circuit.

The aftermath.
