Big Field Set for B6HR

ANOTHER blockbuster grid has been unveiled for Bathurst’s biggest enduro – the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

To be held across the March 29-31 Easter long weekend, the annual Production Car classic has attracted a 60-plus entry for the fifth time in its history, with 62 nominations confirmed at the time of entries closing last week.

2024 will mark the eighth running of the race which has established itself as one of Bathurst’s ‘must win’ endurance classics each year.

Last year, Simon Hodges and Jayden Ojeda claimed a dramatic victory following a late charge to the front of the field.

Their Secure Wealth Advisors BMW M4 returns this year in a bid to defend their Bathurst victory – something no competitor has been able to achieve in 6 hour history to date.

BMW, the dominant brand in 6 hour history, returns to dominate the outright Class X that are likely to be the main contenders for outright victory.

Former winners Beric Lynton and Sherrin Racing also return in a bid to return to the top of the charts.

The Extreme Performance (A1 for Forced Induction and A2 for normally aspirated) are the most numerical classes and are filled with tight competition.

Of note is the first entry of a Chevrolet Camaro in Bathurst 6 Hour history, with the team of Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan entered this year.

Long-time entrants in a HSV Commodore, the squad will field their brand-new Camaro in a first for the race this year.

They’ll go up against a fleet of Ford Mustangs as the pony car battle spills over to Production Car Racing once again – having been a hallmark of the sport in the 1960s.

No fewer than eight Mustangs are entered with the upgraded Mach1 specification cars looking to challenge the dominant BMWs at an outright level.

The class spread remains strong, with Class B (6 cars), Class C (9) and Class D (11) cars all fielding strong numbers, while four Mazdas will battle between themselves for the ‘baby’ car category in Class E.

15 different brands are represented on the entry list among the 62 cars, with BMW (18) the most numerous, followed by 11 Fords and six each representing Mazda and Toyota.

The full driver roster will be confirmed closer to the event this year.

The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will get underway on Easter Sunday this year, with live coverage details to be announced soon.

Tickets, corporate and camping are on sale for the event now, via the official website at www.bathurst6hour.com.au

CHARISE BRISTOW – Category Manager, Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour

“We’re pleased with the response to the Bathurst 6 Hour this year and we’ve got a great field set to race this Easter.

“There’s a lot of familiar faces back again but also several new names and new car builds that will be joining the race for the first time.

“It proves how accessible this race is with classes for everyone and just about every type of car.

“Everything is coming together for a great race this year and based on the quality of the field assembling, we’re confident that it will be another Bathurst classic.”
