Hall steals race two win with last corner Adelaide pass

BAYLEY HALL has sensationally stolen his sixth Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia race win, passing Dale Wood in the final corner of race two on the streets of Adelaide today.

Hall was a slow starter from the outside of the front row in the second race, however a race-long fight with Dale Wood for the lead came to a head in the final turn when the McElrea Racing driver pounced on a hesitation from his EBM rival – who was lapping a slower car – to dive down the inside of the Connected Spaces entry and take a sensational win.

It was Hall’s sixth career Carrera Cup win and the first of his career to occur on a circuit other than the Surfers Paradise street circuit, where he won three weeks ago.

Wood made a perfect start from pole and charged to an early lead before he was caught by the chasing pack, which was initially led by David Russell with Hall third.

Hall soon dispatched Russell and chased down the leader, the pair spending the final 10 minutes of the race locked together in a battle for the lead – leading to Hall’s bold last-corner pass to grab the win.

Russell, struggling with a Differential issue in his TekworkX machine, held off Harri Jones and the chasing pack to grab third and ensure he secured second position in this year’s championship.

The battle for the final step on the Equity One Pro season podium will go down to the wire tomorrow, however, with Jackson Walls now leading Dylan O’Keeffe by one point ahead of tomorrow’s 25-minute finale’.

O’Keeffe was unable to make headway from a lowly starting position in today’s race, meaning he finished 11th compared to Walls’ sixth.

In his milestone 250th Carrera Cup Australia race, David Wall was as competitive as ever as he raced his way to fifth position, one spot in front of Walls and just behind the latest champion in the form of Harri Jones.

Glen Wood finished seventh while Lockie Bloxsom rebounded from his race one dramas to secure a personal best race finish today in eighth.

Angelo Mouzouris and Clay Osborne completed the top 10 heading into Sunday’s finale.

Adrian Flack raced his way to another SP Tools Pro-Am win in style today, leading home Stephen Grove in Carrera Cup’s race within a race. Matt Belford rebounded from his race one, lap one non-finish by securing third position with Matt Slavin and Rodney Jane next.

Anthony DiMauro had run third in the early stages of the race before a brief spin into the turn 11 wall whilst battling for second with Stephen Grove ended his podium hopes.

An exciting third and final race will complete the 2024 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship tomorrow afternoon at the VAILO Adelaide 500, with the race to be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and Channel 7.
