Introducing the Toyota Champ

Please meet the Toyota Champ, one of the wildest concepts for a racer we have seen. Set to debut this weekend in the Super PickUp class in the Thailand Super Series from the Chang International Circuit, it is sure to be a head turner, with unique styling that makes it more at home on a construction site than a racetrack. Share your feedback on our socials @theracetorque! Unlike the tightly controlled V8 SuperUtes in Australia, the Super PickUp category sees a proper arms race carried out between the different brands, who pump big boost into their diesel-powered racers. The Battle of Bathurst: Publicly Disappointed

The 1998 AMP Bathurst 1000 will go down in the history books as one of the greatest Great Races of all time. However, outside of the blockbuster racing, that long weekend in October failed to deliver – crowds weren’t engaged, and neither were the manufacturers or global Super Touring competitors. In the opening three legs of this deep dive into the Battle of Bathurst, we looked at the formation of V8 Supercars and the subsequent motorsport civil war that broke out in 1997, resulting in the twin 1000km races that year. The Fox Collection

There are precious few public automotive showcases that represent the quality you can find in our very own Fox Collection, featuring selections from Lindsay Fox’s incredible fleet. Located in Docklands, adjacent to the Melbourne downtown, the Fox Collection probably features the car of your dreams. Immediately as you walk in the front doors, you are greeted by a Lexus LFA, a pair of contemporary Ford GTs and one of 77 modern Porsche 935s, which sets the tone for what’s inside. On the day of our visit, around 50 vehicles were on display, and it was close to impossible to pick

Uncertainty to Absolutes: Taupo’s Supercars journey

ADMIT IT, when Supercars announced their New Zealand return would come via a smallish, country circuit three and a half hours South of the biggest population base in the nation, you probably rolled your eyes. Sure, there was a dim memory of A1GP being held at Taupo in another lifetime, and some domestic Kiwi racing stuff over the summer tucked away on Aussie pay TV, but that was about it. Surely, I bet you thought, Hampton Downs would have been a better bet. Or Highlands. Or better yet, just don’t close Pukekohe.. I thought a lot of those thoughts too.
