Restoring a Cult Hero: The Supercheap AU

It’s been 25 years in the making, but the AU Falcon is now an overnight classic. Although the model never enjoyed the championship success of either the EL or BA for the Blue Oval, one of the slippery Fords that tasted success in both the main game and development series is being restored to its period-correct trim. Through the process, the car has garnered a loyal online following, with fans being given a special insight into the restoration of a classic. In return, home viewers have provided a treasure trove of information to assist in the build. SER 1 on

Phillip Island Museum

It's an attraction often overlooked by visitors to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, but the facility's motorsport museum is worth checking out. Clearly skewed toward motorcycle racing, which is entirely understandable given the venue's MotoGP and WSBK feature events, the museum delves into the rich history of the development of the motorsport on the Island dating back to the 1920s. It's not the biggest museum in the world, but there are plenty of items of interest immerse yourself in. To find the museum, simply head to the visitor centre on the outside of the race circuit confines, with the

28 years later: Revisiting the Wellington Street Circuit

FOR a vast majority of the population, the fading yellow markers that sporadically appear across Wellington’s Commonwealth walkway, a public walkway / running track that borders the waterfront and the battlements alongside the elevated Frank Kitts Park, would mean absolutely nothing. There are perhaps six or eight that you can spot, but only if you look. Some elements of yellow are reasonably strong, but in many places they are just blobs of colour on a windswept bitumen, neither connected to anything else nor obvious in their meaning or purpose. They could be survey lines painted by the council, showing where

Bathurst Kart Track: Costly Business

Have you ever wondered what it takes to get a new motorsport venue approved? It turns out it is an incredibly convoluted process, with many hoops to jump through. A point in case is the new karting facility at Mount Panorama, with all of the critical paperwork, including the details of the price increase, publicly available on the Bathurst Regional Council website.
