MOTORSPORT STREAMING AUDIENCES DOUBLE IN 2021

THE RACE TORQUE can reveal that streaming audiences for motorsport in Australia - in particular Formula One - have doubled in 2021. Total audience figures for the 2021 Formula 1 season released by Foxtel yesterday, coupled with TRTs own regular reporting of the freely released audience figures for 'traditional linear TV', show a massive growth in streaming audiences watching on the Kayo Sports streaming app, Foxtel Now and via Foxtel Go. Foxtel is notoriously secretive in releasing Kayo audiences, however by releasing the total audiences for each race they allow us to work backwards to split the people viewing online

IndyCar, WEC, WRC join Stan streaming

THE FIRST major flex in the streaming wars to be felt by Aussie Motorsport fans has been confirmed, with streaming service Stan Sport announcing today that it has secured rights to three major international motorsport properties. The Nine Entertainment Co-owned service has confirmed it has secured rights to the NTT IndyCar Series, FIA World Endurance Championship and the FIA World Rally Championship for the 2022 season. The three series will be shown live, ad-break free and also be available on demand next year. IndyCar has been a Fox Sports property in recent years, though only expanded back to full-season coverage

RATINGS: Enormous audience watches F1 thriller

AN ENORMOUS Aussie TV audience that averaged 135,000 people has watched the remarkable Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the early hours of Monday morning on Fox Sports. Proving the interest in the remarkable 2021 season and the phenomenal world title showdown between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, the audience is 114% larger than the same race last year. Last years race drew 63,000 and the year before just 41,000. It is by far the largest TV Audience for the Abu Dhabi race we have charted on TRT. Only the Thunder v Stars BBL 11 match drew a larger audience (163,000)
