Continue readingCOMMENT: Racing TV ratings are basically a waste of our time
FOR THE first time in five years TRT’s regular Ratings Watch column didn’t make an appearance following the opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship. This tracks their viewing habits and through maths, science and black magic, appropriates that number

The under-renovation Queensland Raceway was the venue for Round 2 of the Australian Superbike Championship and it was the local boy Mike Jones who dominated the day. On a hot day in sunny Ipswich, Jones, riding a Yamaha, was red hot dominating both races to take the championship lead ahead of Desmosport Ducati’s Bryan Staring by 16 points. Arriving at the track at 8:30am to long queues, Motorcycling Australia - fresh off a deal with Stan Sport to stream the ASBK championship - must have been encouraged by the crowd of around 3,000 to 4000 people. Surely, a sign that

YOU CAN forget the Supercars’ tiresome stick-versus-paddle shift debate: Before Gen III comes to pass, Ford’s next Bathurst winner could be – pause for dramatic effect – an automatic. Don’t refresh the page or fire up on the socials about a typo because you read that correctly. Before DJR or Tickford send their Mustang’s into battle next year, Ford’s next best hope to win a Mount Panorama enduro will feature a car where the driver need not select their own gears at all. Fret not, however, because what it represents harks back to the good old days of ‘showroom showdowns’,
