Fisichella returns to complete S5000 mission in Adelaide
FORMULA ONE winner Giancarlo Fisichella will compete at the VALO Adelaide 500 as he returns to ‘finish a job’ he started two years ago in S5000. The Italian will compete for Team BRM in the S5000 Tasman Series races at this year’s event on December 1-4, adding a Formula 1 flair to a circuit famed for bringing Grand Prix racing to Australia in the 1980s. Born in Rome in 1973 Fisichella, 49, entered 231 Formula 1 Grands Prix across a successful F1 career that spanned 14 seasons. “I am thrilled to be coming back to Australia to race S5000 –

Big bad Sandown will once again come alive this weekend with its 30th anniversary historic meet, with a mixed bag of open wheelers, sports and touring cars set to take to the track. A highlight will no doubt be the Formula 5000s, a class synonymous with the wide-open straights of the suburban Melbourne venue. Expect the battle at the head of the pack to feature Dean Camm (Chevron B24), Geoff Walters (Lola T330) and Bill Hemming (Elfin MR8), amongst others. A sign of the diversity that is now becoming a fixture at modern historic meets, the National Sports Sedans will

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past 24 hours, by now you would have seen Ross Chastain’s rather remarkable last-lap move in the penultimate round of the NASCAR Cup Series from Martinsville Speedway, below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOY9p5gFa5Q Coming into the final two corners of the 500-lap race, instead of braking and down-changing through the gears to make the corner, he aimed at the outside fence, shifted up to fifth gear, and kept his foot hard on the throttle. Remarkably, the move stuck, the car kept its momentum and didn’t wad up into a ball, despite having to cross

LATE in the second S5000 practice session at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, cameras picked up Cooper Webster's Versa Motorsport entry running down the pit straight. The camera then cut to the traditional, classic low-down shot on the exit of turn three, picking up the car as it came through the right-hand kink just prior to the braking zone for turn one. At ground level, the 560hp S5000 that was moving at 200km/hr looked like it was going a whole heap quicker; The change of direction and the unloading of the right-hand side of the car saw the inside

Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo Asia class is coming to Australia for the first time, with The Bend Motorsport Park to host the category’s local debut from June 9 to 11 next year. However, mystery surrounds the event the one-make series will feature on. Last week when the 2023 SpeedSeries calendar was announced, The Bend Motorsport Park was a noticeable omission, while the status of the venue’s Supercars event remains up in the air, pending the final calendar announcement. Complicating factors that are believed to be behind the delay in announcing the schedule include confirmation of backing for a prospective New Zealand
