NASH MORRIS has led teammate Hamish Fitzsimmons to an emphatic TekworkX Motorsport 1-2 sweep of the fourth round of Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia at Queensland Raceway. Morris led from lights-to-flag to claim victory in the Jim Richards Enduro Trophy race on Sunday morning at the Ipswich circuit to sweep all three races at his home circuit. He was chased hard by his teammate all race but was up to the task of holding onto his race lead to complete a rear Sprint Challenge sweep. Reports of the demise of the Calder Park Thunderdome have been greatly exaggerated. While the Calder Park road circuit next door came to life yesterday with its first race meeting in modern times, the Thunderdome howled with big V8s in a series of spirited parade laps. From period NASCARs from both America and Australia to Auscars and a HQ Holden, the classic iron strutted itself on the high banks, while also making up a category on the flat track under the Stock Car Australia banner. THE closest qualifying session in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia series history has seen teenager Oscar Targett grab his first pole award of the year. Targett, a Grove Racing junior driver and karting graduate, scored pole by a tiny margin of 0.0012 seconds as he bumped Nash Morris off the top spot late in Friday’s 20-minute session. It’s the closest 1-2 qualifying margin in series history, and came in a session that also delivered the closest top three, top five and top 10 qualifying results in the history of the championship, as well as the quickest ever lap of Queensland

This weekend, the Shannons SpeedSeries returns to Queensland Raceway, and as a reminder of how far the program has come over the years, today we're throwing it back to 2007, and the third round of the Shannons Nationals which was held at the Willowbank venue. The Race Torque recently received some sad news from Bathurst regarding the recent closure of Ash's Speedway Museum. Unfortunately for the hidden gem, its lease was not renewed after the expansion of an adjacent business saw the museum's factory space swallowed up. EVEN MORE heat will be added to an already fiery Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS Championship as the series embarks on a critical trip to Queensland Raceway. Already one of the closest title battles in series history, the fight for the championship will go to another level this weekend with five-time Bathurst 1000 winner Garth Tander joining championship leader Liam Talbot. Talbot returned to the top of the standings two weeks ago in Sydney following a strong weekend – that included a Sunday victory – for he, co-driver Fraser Ross and their Shannons Audi R8 LMS Ultra.
