Old meets new as Caltex history put on show
Old has met new as two generations of Caltex-supported Supercars met head on today at Mount Panorama ahead of the Repco Bathurst 1000 this weekend. The Caltex Young Stars ZB Holden Commodore to be driven by Matt Chahda and Jaylyn Robotham lined up alongside the 2003 BA Ford Falcon entered in the Great Race by legendary team, Stone Brothers Racing. The pair were on display in the Caltex Young Stars garage in pit lane and both will take prominence across the weekend – the Caltex Young Stars cars on track and the Caltex Stone Brothers Racing Falcon in Bathurst’s iconic

THE GREAT RACE is back where it belongs in October and the 2022 edition is set to be another thriller. As always, we've delved into the brains - a scary thought, admittedly - of Team TRT to get their thoughts as to how the Great Race will play out. We've also invited a local along to join the fun because a) it's mandatory and b) the race won't happen without him. To hear the drivers' thoughts on these same questions, listen to our Bathurst preview edition of On The Grid, which includes comments from defending winner Lee Holdsworth, the vastly

Bathurst. For The Race Torque team, this is it. The best week of the year. Ok, we do also love the Bathurst 12 Hour, but you get my drift. Every year we stare into the Crystal Ball and pluck out the good, the bad and the ugly of the co-drivers nominated for The Great Race. As we have witnessed in the recent COVID-affected years, the co-drivers as a collective have had little seat time. One all-in P1 session at Sandown, ride days and the final allocated test day for all teams is as much time as the 28 co-drivers will
Continue readingThe incredible logistics behind Bathurst’s TV
NEXT WEEK somewhere between 1.6 and 2 million people will spend six hours of an October Sunday watching what is the most watched domestic car race in the world, per capita. The Repco Bathurst 1000s position as one of the world’s greatest and most influential races is unquestionable, but its position within the Australian national psyche – where sport ranks somewhere between ‘breathing’ and ‘eating’ – is like no other major motorsport event in the world. Perhaps outside of Ashes or Australia-versus-India test matches, the 1000 has the largest sustained domestic TV audience of any sporting event in Australia.
Continue readingTRT’s ultimate guide to Bathurst City
Dearest patrons of the 2022 Bathurst 1000 – welcome to a great little city! Team TRT love Bathurst, obviously, there’s Mount Panorama, but the area it is attached to makes the visit west from Sydney incredibly worthwhile. Our obsession has brought us to the point where we have done the maths, and considering the five major events hosted at Mount Panorama annually, it is probably economically feasible for us to acquire local property, and set up a permanent base in the area. As such, over the years we have scoured the city up and down, and found the best places
