Cameron Waters earned his second straight runner-up finish, this time alongside James Moffat, while Brodie Kostecki and David Russell broke through for their maiden Bathurst 1000 podium for Erebus Motorsport in third. Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander were in the thick of the action until late tyre dramas struck, while separate late-race accidents for Broc Feeney and Jayden Ojeda resulted in safety car appearances. Some mega racing and photo finishes rounded out the fifth and final round of the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships at Phillip Island over the weekend. The Formula Fords went full Formula Ford, which unlike going full Super2, is exceptional. In the opener it was Kobi Williams from Matthew Hillyer and Edison Beswick, while the second race was an all-time classic, with Beswick leading home Hillyer and Jordyn Sinni in a three-wide photo finish, with only 0.0629sec separating the trio. The third heat was cut short due to time constraints, with Hillyer victorious from Beswick and Williams, with only 0.0282sec

They claim many of the headlines heading into the Great Race, but the Bathurst 1000 wildcard fleet has experienced a rollercoaster ride on track. The 2022 entry is probably the most interesting to face the starter for the event since the commencement of the concept, but the three crews have a serious Mountain to climb. A SUCCESSFUL S5000 Open test at The Bend Motorsport Park has seen 15 drivers complete more than 350 laps of The Bend Motorsport Park's West Circuit on Tuesday.
